Parishes Sportive
The Parishes Sportive is back and entries are now open! Taking place on Sunday 8th December, this fantastic event is perfect for cyclists of all skill levels, and this year’s ride is extra special. Why? Because all proceeds will help send an Isle of Man cycling team—both Road and MTB riders—to the 2025 Orkney Island Games!
Raising Money for the Island Games
Cycle 360 is SO keen to keep cycling an inclusive sport. As your local bikeshop, we understand the financial barriers to the sport, especially competing within it. By supporting the Island Games cyclists in 2025 (yet to be selected!), we can help everyone have the opportunity of being a part of the team.
Whether you’re an experienced rider, an e-biker, or a casual cyclist, there’s something for everyone at the upcoming Parishes Sportive. Participants can choose between the full 80-mile route or a 37-mile medium course, both promising stunning views and a great ride. Plus, thanks to the support from Robinson’s and ourselves at Cycle 360, your entry includes electronic timing, a free energy gel, a free cycling bottle, professional digital photos, and two feed stations along the way!
Honouring the Slack Family
But that’s not all. This year’s event has a deeper significance, as we honour the memories of cycling legends Stuart Slack and his wife, Jean.
For many years, before the racing season began each Spring, local cyclists would complete a club-run around the historic Parishes route. This was usually done informally, led by one of its key figures, Stuart Slack, the Island’s first Commonwealth Games medallist.
After Stuart’s passing in 1998, his widow Jean and their family decided to organise the ride in a more structured way. For several years, they ran the Stuart Slack Parishes Ride in his memory, raising money for charity.
This year’s event will be especially meaningful, following the recent passing of Jean. Many participants will no doubt remember both Stuart and Jean with fondness during the ride.
Their legacy of bringing people together for the love of cycling continues, and you can be part of it!
