An Evening of Inspiration with Jenny Graham: World Record Cyclist Visits Cycle 360
It was an evening of inspiration on Friday 15th March as Cycle 360 played host to world record cyclist, Jenny Graham – the fastest woman to cycle around the world! Her visit brought together the cycling-obsessed, adventure seekers, endurance go getters and inspired minds.
80 of us had the privilege of spending an evening with Jenny Graham. Known not just for her remarkable cycling feats and crazy adventures but also for her warm, witty, and personable Scottish charm. Jenny had us all hooked from the moment she started talking about her around the world adventure.
With home-cooked food and an ambient atmosphere, the stage was set ready for a brilliant evening.
Jenny’s story is nothing short of extraordinary.
In 2018, she embarked on a solo, unsupported journey that would etch her name in the Guinness World Records. Leaving her family and friends in Scotland, Jenny set out to become the fastest woman to cycle around the globe. Her adventure concluded triumphantly at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, 124 days later, where she shattered the previous female record by nearly three weeks.
Throughout the evening, Jenny shared insights into the challenges and exhilarations of her journey. From humorous toilet tips designed to keep bears at bay to power napping on her bike’s tri-bars to avoid falling asleep completely. She recounted nights spent sleeping under bridges, in pipes, and public toilets, as well as the warmth and diversity of the people she met along the way. Jenny’s stories of navigating perilous Russian roads, averaging 13.5 to 15 hours of cycling a day, and overcoming self-doubt resonated deeply with everyone present.
The inspiration continued into Saturday, as Jenny joined us for a 45km group social ride, so we could display our beautiful Island – even in the rain (she’s used to our weather… she’s Scottish!).
Thank you!
Jenny Graham’s visit to the Isle of Man was more than just an evening of stories. It was a reminder of the power of determination, the beauty of our planet, and the unbreakable spirit of adventure that resides within each of us. To Jenny, and to everyone who joined us for this inspirational weekend, we say thank you!
A massive thank you to Kim Tastagh at Discover Isle of Man for spearheading this whole idea.
